ARTIST BIO

Jessica Pye is a London based costume designer and a graduate of Wimbledon College of Art in 2018.

Costumes and designs are commonly textile based as this is the designer’s main area of interest. Jessica designs her own textiles through techniques such as dying, printing, and fabric manipulation.

She is also interested in contemporary adaptations of classic texts, putting classic texts in the present day allows the designer to explore political and social-political concerns such as mental health and gender roles.

Most recent career highlights include designs for a contemporary production of ‘Hansel & Gretel’ at Brighton Fringe Festival (2018) performed by Shoreditch Youth Dance Company. Film credits include costumes for a dystopian, graduate film ‘Comedown’ by Lorenzo Nera.

As well as designing, she has distressed costumes for ‘INK’ (2017) which was original performed at Almeida, which then transferred to the Duke of York’s Theatre.
